A wedding display fires late, after dinner, when the couple steps out onto the terrace or just before the first dance. The venue is a manor, a castle or a hall with grounds, rarely built with pyrotechnics in mind: trees, a marquee, guests’ cars, close neighbours. The show is short, very colourful, with a dense finale. You will typically use compact cakes, candles, a few small and medium calibre shells, fountains for the opening, sometimes a lancework heart or the couple’s initials. The season runs from May to September, and Saturdays fill up fast.

Couples buy an emotion, not calibres. They ask for “a beautiful display”, a budget, a piece of music, and above all want reassurance about permits.
