Definition
The safety data sheet (SDS) is the sixteen-section document defined by the REACH regulation for hazardous substances and mixtures: identification, hazards, composition, first aid, fire-fighting, handling and storage, transport. Strictly speaking a firework is an "article" rather than a mixture, so an SDS is not legally required for it; the instructions for use and the labelling required by Directive 2013/29/EU carry the regulatory information (category, distance, age, method of use, net explosive content). In practice most manufacturers and importers supply an SDS or a technical sheet per product family, and prefectures, fire services or principals ask for it together with the list of fireworks. It also serves the occupational physician and the chemical risk assessment.
