Definition
The safety briefing is the short meeting the lead pyrotechnician holds with the whole crew before set-up, and often again just before firing. It restates the site plan (firing site, perimeter, fallout, muster point), who does what, the means of communication, the procedure for a dud, a fire or an injury, the wind limit decided and the exact firing time. It also states who may order a stop, and that anyone may do so in the face of immediate danger. In France no fireworks-specific text formalises it, but it flows from the employer's general prevention duties and from the prevention plan agreed with the organiser. A signed attendance sheet keeps a record of it.
