Definition
In French fireworks regulation the prefectoral approval covers two things. The first is the individual approval granted by the prefect to pyrotechnicians, a regime inherited from decree 90-897 and kept by decree 2010-580 as an alternative to the qualification certificate: it is granted for a limited period to professionals with proven experience of using F4 or T2 articles, and allows them to sign CERFA 14098 as display supervisor. It has become marginal, the F4-T2 certificate being the normal route. The second is the approval of the training bodies entitled to issue that certificate, granted by the prefect after review of the syllabus and trainers. The supervisor's approval or certificate number must appear on every declaration and is checked by the prefecture.
In practice, for the display company
