Category F2

Definition

Category F2 designates fireworks presenting a low hazard and low noise level, intended for outdoor use in confined areas, typically a garden: fountains, small cakes, low-calibre candles, wheels, small rockets. Standard EN 15947 sets their safety distance at 8 m. The directive allows sale from age 16, but France chose 18 in decree 2010-580, and bans the sale of F2 articles containing a fuse-lit banger to private individuals outside specialised channels. F2 articles may be used without a certificate; they only trigger a display declaration when, together with F3 articles, the total net explosive content exceeds 35 kg. Many municipalities nevertheless prohibit their use on public ground by municipal order.

In practice, for the display company

F2 articles are the close-proximity tools: weddings, garden displays, ground effects 8 m from the audience. PyroDesk places them at the right distance on the site plan, counts them in the total net explosive content and keeps a "small display" quote free of CERFA as long as the threshold is not crossed.
