Category T1

Definition

Category T1 covers theatrical pyrotechnic articles presenting a low hazard: cold-spark gerbs, flashes, stage smoke, small coloured flames, impact effects, designed for use on stage or set, indoors or outdoors, at short distance from performers and audience. Directive 2013/29/EU distinguishes them from fireworks by their stage use and by adapted safety requirements (reduced distances, low smoke, no incandescent fallout). In France decree 2010-580 restricts their sale and use to adults and requires no certificate; their use in premises open to the public nevertheless remains subject to the fire safety regulations and to the venue operator's consent.

In practice, for the display company

T1 articles open up the market of venues, indoor weddings and concerts without going through a CERFA. PyroDesk handles them in the same catalogue as F articles, with their own distance, and produces for the venue operator the effects sheet (product, duration, height, smoke) they ask for before giving the go-ahead.
