Alternatives

An alternative to a generic CRM for fireworks companies

A CRM tracks opportunities; a pyrotechnician tracks shows, each with a date, a site, stock and an authority behind it.

Where the current tool falls short

  • A CRM “opportunity” has no firing date, no site and no firing plan: custom fields have to be bent to fit a show inside.
  • The pipeline stops at “won”; for a pyrotechnician the real work starts there: contract, declaration, stock, crew, balance invoice.
  • The promised integrations do not talk to pyrotechnic stock, to the authority declaration, or to the subcontractor who will fire the show.

What PyroDesk changes

  • The Kanban pipeline runs from first contact to payment received, through the show itself: each column is a real stage of the trade.
  • The client record shows past shows, turnover generated and portal exchanges, with no configuration.
  • A won dossier carries on in the same tool: contract, declaration, firing plan, subcontracting and invoicing.

Generic CRMs are designed for sales teams selling a repeatable product to many prospects. The vocabulary — lead, opportunity, qualification stage — comes from there. A pyrotechnician sells something else: a one-off show, on a fixed date, at a site that needs surveying, with an authority to notify and a crew to mobilise. Fitting that reality into a CRM takes custom fields, automations and hours of setup nobody has in June.

The breaking point is the move to “won”. In a CRM the deal is closed and you move on to the next one. For a pyrotechnician it has just opened: a contract to get signed, a deposit to collect, a declaration to file within the deadline, items to reserve from stock, a subcontractor to find if that Saturday is already taken, a firing plan to draw, a balance to invoice after the performance. All of that then happens in other tools, and the client record in the CRM no longer reflects anything.

PyroDesk keeps what is useful in a CRM — a client record with history, a visual pipeline, follow-ups — and extends it to the end of the show. The Kanban columns match the stages of the trade, from the enquiry received to the balance paid. Every won dossier keeps its documents: quote signed on the portal, contract, authority declaration, firing plan, messages exchanged. When a client calls back two years later, everything is there, including what was fired.
