Definition
Professional liability insurance covers bodily, material and consequential damage caused to third parties by the fireworks company's activity: a spectator injured by fallout, a roof set on fire, a damaged car, the cancellation of a neighbouring event. No law makes it compulsory for the profession as such, but it is so in practice: CERFA 14098 requires the insurance certificate of the organiser or the pyrotechnician, municipalities ask for it at quote stage, and firing without cover would expose the manager's personal assets. Specialised policies distinguish operational liability (set-up, transport, storage) from product liability, cap compensation per claim and per year, often at several million euros, and exclude breaches of prefectoral orders or the use of uncertified staff. The subcontractor must carry their own.

The insurance certificate is requested with every quote, every CERFA and by every subcontractor. PyroDesk keeps the current certificate with its expiry date, attaches it automatically to quotes and declarations, warns before renewal and checks that the certificate of the subcontractor assigned to the job is still valid on show day.
