Definition
Subcontracting is when the pyrotechnician holding a contract entrusts all or part of the display's execution to another fireworks company: because three shows fall on the same evening, because the venue is 600 km away, or because the subcontractor owns the required equipment or certificate. The French law of 31 December 1975 requires the subcontractor to be accepted by the client on public contracts, and the main contractor remains liable for the result towards the organiser. On the regulatory side, CERFA 14098 must name the actual display supervisor, i.e. the subcontractor's, and each party's insurance must cover its share. The subcontracting agreement sets the price, which fireworks each party supplies, the documents handed over and the duty of vigilance against undeclared work above 5,000 euros before tax.
In practice, for the display company
The subcontractor needs the firing plan, the racks, the site plan and the CERFA, never the selling price.
