Fireworks display regulations in Canada

A single federal framework (Explosives Act and Explosives Regulations, 2013, run by Natural Resources Canada's Explosives Regulatory Division) plus local written permission from the fire department or municipality for every display.

In Canada explosives are a federal matter. The Explosives Act (R.S.C. 1985, c. E-17) and the Explosives Regulations, 2013 (SOR/2013-211) are administered by the Explosives Regulatory Division (ERD) of Natural Resources Canada. Part 18 of the Regulations authorises the acquisition, storage and sale of display fireworks (type F.2) and regulates their use. No firework may be manufactured, imported, sold or used unless it appears on NRCan's list of authorised explosives.
