Definition
The firing site is the ground area reserved for setting up and firing the fireworks: the space where racks, cakes, ground pieces and modules are placed, off limits to anyone outside the crew from the start of rigging. It is chosen during the site survey according to orientation relative to the audience, ground type (earth, grass, sand, pontoon, barge), overhead clearance, absence of combustible material and the possibility of fencing it. Around it extends the fallout zone, sized from the largest calibre fired and the wind, then the audience limit. The firing site is guarded throughout rigging, checked after the show to collect misfires and debris, and restored. It appears on the site plan attached to the declaration.
In practice, for the display company
The firing site is drawn before ordering: its size and orientation decide the maximum calibre and therefore the show you can sell. PyroDesk draws the firing site, the fallout zone and the audience limit on the site plan from the calibres in the firing plan, and attaches that plan to the declaration file; PyroSimulator places the racks in the same spot in the 3D scene.
